Please let us know if there are any other questions you might think would be good for our list.
1. We were 15 minutes late. Can we stay 15 minutes after the class is over to make up for lost time?
Unfortunately, no. It is your responsibility to arrive at the time you have arranged with us. When students stay during the change over of classes, it disrupts and slows down the next class set up, because the teachers have to split their focus between teaching and preparing the next students for work. If you feel you need to come in at an odd time, please call ahead and let us know.
2. There are five weeks in this month, but one of those weeks lands on a holiday. Can we have a makeup for that class?
The fee paid for each month is for four classes. If a month happens to have 5 weeks, that fifth week is complementary. However, we do not count months with holidays (i.e. Christmas, Honokaa, Easter, ect.) as a five-week month. Holidays in four-week months will be made up.
3. My child hasn’t eaten today. Can he/she bring their food into class and eat?
We use to say yes to this, but no longer can, for two reasons. The first reason being that it is too much of a distraction, and takes time away from the student’s work. The other being that (we have found) with the many spills (and crumbs) we have had, takes the teachers time away from the students, because we are the ones that have to clean them up.
4. Can child A and child B, sit together? They’re really good friends.
Of course… We believe that our studio is not only a place of learning, but also a place of fun. As long as they work happily, and don’t disrupt the rest of the class, brothers, sisters, and friends alike can be together.
5. My child has been working on this project for a long time now. Can’t you get them to pick up the pace?
Unless they’re taking a long time due to lack of work, talking, or procrastination we do not want to rush them. It is our philosophy that it is better to take your time, and have one really nice picture, rather than hurry and have two or three “just okay” pictures. Remember, it’s a learning process and at Art Is Our Passion, it’s about quality, not quantity.
6. We arrived a bit early. Can we just start early, and then finish early?
We strongly prefer that you didn’t. The reason for this being, that both set up and clean up in the middle of a class serves as a distraction to teachers, and takes time away from us working with other students. If you feel you need to come in at an odd time, please call ahead and let us know.
7. Our friend is here from out of town. Can they do a free trial lesson?
Free trial lessons are reserved for people who are considering joining us, only. If your friend would like to join us for class for the day, a one-day fee of $18. can be arranged.
8. Do you do “walk in” free trial lessons?
Sorry, all free trial lessons must be called in ahead of time.
9. My child is a returning student. Do we still get a free first lesson?
Free trials are reserved for fist timers only.
10. My child did not attend the first class this month, why did I get a Late Notice?
Tuition is due the first day of every month, regardless of attendance. Tuition is considered late if paid after the date of your first regularly scheduled class.
11. I have 4 make-ups. Can I just put them towards next month?
You have 60 days to make up excused absences, make-ups are allowed only during paid tuition months.
12. Why do I have to be current to use my make-ups?
Due to the fact that tuition covers class costs for that month, we lose money if we do it that way.
And that’s it for now. Well, no it isn’t. We have so much more going on right now that, I’m sure we could go on, and on, but that’s what we have to talk about for this month. We’ll see you in class! |
